I’m a very goal-oriented person. I give myself a goal and a deadline, then I achieve it and make another goal and deadline. And so on. But now that I’m going to college and will soon be entering “the real world,” I figured it is time to get my priorities straight. For now, at least.
Goal – avoid the Freshman 15. I’ve heard it can go both ways: you either gain 15 pounds from eating unhealthy food, or lose 15 pounds from eating too little food in the dining hall. I am a very picky eater with a sensitive stomach, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to find things to eat in the dining hall. The one attached to my dorm has a tossed-to-order salad station and 8 flavors of ice cream , and there is always pasta. Plus I’ll be bringing LOTS of snacks for my dorm room.
Cheerios of course…
Dark chocolate Zone bars for breakfast on-the-go…
Various butters…
Cheese sticks…
And fruit that I will steal from the dining hall. For what we’re paying for tuition, I deserve all the apples I can eat.
Goal – stay ahead on my schoolwork. I’m one of those people who receives an assignment, then immediately completes it. If I don’t, then it will be constantly sitting in the back of my mind until I finish it, which prevents me from enjoying other activities! I’m not sure of my schedule yet, but I’m hoping to get mostly morning classes because I am most alert and focused in the morning. Then after class, I’ll go to the library/study room/dorm to do my homework while my friends are in their afternoon classes. I seem to get more done faster when I work in the library, so that is probably what I’ll do. This way, my evenings will be free and I can enjoy my nights without staying up until 4 am doing homework! Of course… all-nighters are bound to happen regardless.
Goal – stay in shape! One benefit of waitressing all summer is that my arms look better than ever. Carrying all those heavy plates (and yes, they ARE heavy!) has paid off! Obviously cheerleading will help me with this goal, especially when my arm muscles are needed to lift a person. Best workout motivation ever… if you give up, then she falls and you’re in big trouble!
Goal – make new friends. This one should be pretty easy, seeing as I’ll be living with friends 24/7, but I have a tendency to work too hard on schoolwork and forget to have fun. It’s all about balance, and while I want to stay ahead (see above ^^) I don’t want to study too hard and miss out on opportunities to have fun. They say college is where you meet some of your lifelong best friends, and I definitely want to! And don’t worry, the scenario in the picture won’t happen to me. I just think it is hilarious.
Goal – keep in touch with my old friends, too. I have a small, solid group of friends from high school, some of whom I’ve known since elementary school! Facebook makes keeping in touch a whole lot easier, and meeting up with friends is what Thanksgiving break is for!
xoxo ❤

I wish I was like you with my school work! I’m the biggest procrastinator ever. It’s terrible — something I should definitely change this year before I head off to college. I really like your goals and I know mine will be similar!
btw did you change your layout? If so… I like it! If not… I’m sorry I must have forgotten what your blog looked like. haha.

You can do it! I definitely did NOT avoid the freshman 15, but I enjoyed college so much and don’t regret any weight I gained!

I’m really goal-oriented person too and I love making lists of what I want to acheive along with why I want to do it and how I want to do it! We have quite a bit in common actually as I’m off to college too next month and my aims are pretty much identical to yours! Love your blog 🙂
